Shanghai subway is one of the most convenient ways to get around the city. Shanghai has more than 17 subway lines that link the city, with stations mainly set near top destinations and hubs. Fares typically average anywhere from 3 to 9 yuan, depending on the distance traveled. You can get a Shanghai subway card at nearly any station - via an automated machine or a ticket counter.

I have learnt so much already in the short 3 weeks I have attended one on one class each day. The teachers are excellent and work with you to support your learning. Particularly enjoyed the in class videos to enhance listening and practice translation.

It was a blast to continue travelling around China after two week intensive learning! I was definitely happy to improve vocabulary from "我饿" into more refined sentences and conversations.

Frequently Asked Questions

GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

What is the course schedule?

Both of our packages (2-Week Summer or 4-Week Summer) include the intensive Chinese learning program with 20 hours of classes per week.

You will have classes in the mornings, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. It will be 4 classes in total with a duration of 45 minutes each, and a 10-min break in between.

Who are the teachers?

Our teachers are all native Chinese speakers who are highly-qualified and experienced in teaching Chinese to foreigners. Our teachers are university graduates with majors in Chinese language education or Chinese literature. They have also previously obtained a “teaching Mandarin as a second language” certificate before they joined us and successfully completed That’s Mandarin’s mandatory Teachers Training Course (TTC).

What teaching materials do you use?

We developed our own teaching and learning methods. We use our own Chinese learning platform for all our classes. There you can find all the materials, read the teacher’s comments, review your lessons, and even schedule your classes.

Will the classes be taught in English?

All of our classes are taught in Chinese to give students a fully immersive Chinese experience. Even for absolute beginners, our teachers will only use limited English to help you understand. Our teacher will use pictures, videos, signs, and gestures to help students remember and understand new material.

Do you provide accommodation?

Yes. We can help you to arrange your accommodation in China. The accommodation options are different for different campuses. Please contact us directly to get more information.

Is summer weather in China comfortable enough to come to study the language?

Of course. It’s super sunny in China during this period, so that you won’t be able to switch off the optimistic mood under such a shiny sky. Besides, we have air-conditioners in every classroom.

Will it be possible to travel across China or just enjoy the Chinese summer?

Yes, it will. You will have classes in the morning on weekdays which means you will have the whole afternoon and evening for yourself. Your Saturdays and Sundays will be free, so you will be able to explore China & Chinese culture while your stay.
