A Sense of Security
Chinese people consider a sense of security extremely important in their life. Many people believe that the closer to the ground, the more secure they feel. Interestingly, a sense of security is often associated with modesty, and that’s why the word “地 (dí): ground” is used to describe someone who is down-to-earth. So, how to say “Down-to-earth” in Chinese?
Say “Down-to-earth” in Chinese: 接地气 (jiē dì qì) = down-to-earth
接 (jiē): to link, to connect;
地 (dì): the ground
接地气 (jiē dì qì) is to be down-to-earth.
